Certified prosthetists Richard Mcumber (left) and Joseph Giacinto look over a gel socket they designed for below-the-knee amputees more than 40 years ago. Our Orthotics and Prosthetics center just celebrated its 100th year anniversary and continues to design new orthotic and prosthetic devices to improve patient lives.

This was a wonderful inclusion into Top Stories. We all know the greatness of the strides our medical center has made but to see the pictures makes it so much more evident. I’ve been employed here since 1974 so all of these pictures/captions are so meaningful and evoke many memories. Thanks for sharing this treasure – a very appropriate word.
Fantastic site! so glad it has been developed so as to share the rich history of University of Michigan Health Care System. I hope more is put on line from the Hospital Star collection at the Taubman library.
Thanks so much.
